When Livia Dubraska Portillo decided to start her eco-leather business Ohja in Guanajuato, the capital of leather and shoes in Mexico, no one thought it would last. Yet today Ohja works with artisans in the state of León developing slow-fashion bags made of vegan leather and produced in a cruelty-free environment.
Livia’s detail-oriented, minimal designs are brought to life by master artisans using exclusively Mexican eco-leather, which is similar to traditional leather but made with 100% vegan materials.
The choice of high-quality materials ensures high resistance, perspiration, and durability, which makes every Ohja bag a lifetime choice.
Every decision from doing without animal skins, to pioneering alternative materials, to using cutting-edge technologies to improve the production process is a step in Ohja’s end goal of moving towards a cruelty-free slow-fashion circular economy that protects our endangered environment.
