AGUA E LULO
Meet The Artisans

AGUA E LULO

Colombia
Founded in 2019 by Stephania Mejía, a creative designer with an extensive background in the fashion industry, Agua e Lulo preserves, promotes, and exhibits the ancestral traditions and stories of masterful Colombian artisans.

Agua e Lulo combines the wisdom of traditional crafts with sophisticated materials and limitless imagination, to create belts and accessories for the contemporary woman, able to brighten up and transform a simple look with a little touch of colorful and masterful art.

The ancient appliqué technique of hand-sewing cut-out layers of fabric native to the Kuna indigenous community in Unguía, Choco, Colombia, is applied to form an intricate “mola.” Each “mola” is unique and represents the specific design of the artisan woman who painstakingly hand-stitches the threads. Each piece is one of a kind in its subtle changes in color and shape, which illustrate its soul and essence.

Agua e Lulo aims to connect Latin America’s stories, traditions, and hidden beauty with the wardrobe of the modern woman, to raise awareness of the traditional know-how of master craftswomen from the indigenous communities of Colombia while adding a modern spin to its designs.
