Catzin

After years of working in Guanajuato in magazines and editorials, Graciela Padilla decided to put her marketing and design skills towards the creation of her own project, officially launching Catzín in 2018.

A lover of organic materials and all things handmade, Graciela went back home to San Juan de Los Lagos in the Mexican state of Jalisco, and let herself be taken by her main source of inspiration - nature. Her brand Catzín was named after the Mayan word for the acacia gaumeri, a tree species endemic to the Yucatan peninsula.

Pushed by the desire to support local businesses and entrepreneurs, Graciela chooses her materials carefully, working with recycled or organic cotton threads bought from a small family business in Guadalajara, Jalisco.

Graciela makes all her macramé and crotcheted products exclusively by hand in her small workshop in San Juan de Los Lagos, using the process of making things with your hands as a way to reconnect with a simpler, more authentic way of living.

Her palette swings between neutral pastel colors for some of her bags and tableware to brighter yellow and aqua green for the macramé pillows, which will add a splash of color to any space.
