Meet The Artisans

IFULKKI

Hailing from the Italian island of Sardinia, Antonella worked in Rome and Switzerland as a Product Manager for high-end fashion brand Fendi. In 2019, she took a leap of faith and jumped ship to Morocco, where she helped her partner run his travel agency and managed a riad right in the middle of the Marrakech Medina.

Ever since her move though, she had been thinking about ways of marrying her product manager experience in high-end fashion with the bountiful crafts of Morocco, which she suddenly found herself surrounded by when settling in Marrakech.

Her entrepreneurial spirit kicked in, and Antonella decided to use her experience in the fashion industry to create her brand IFULKKI, making beautiful bags from repurposed vintage Berber rugs, in collaboration with artisans of the Marrakech Medina.

She chanced upon the master tailor who makes her bags after seeing one of his creations at a friend’s: in his small shop, she found a huge collection of rugs and bags. She bought one, made some modifications, asked him if he’d make more and their partnership has been flourishing ever since.

As her brand’s name suggests, ifulkki meaning beautiful in Berber, Antonella aims at spreading all that is beautiful in Morocco around the world, starting with bags and in the future moving to many other kinds of crafts.
