In the poised bell-shaped weave of the Salento Deco Lampshade, you can almost hear the sleepy sounds of the small Andean town it is named after and smell the pungent fog of coffee production upon which the town survives. Woven by local artisans from Tripillo vine, a material collected in the tropical forests of the region, its traditional use as a basket for the coffee harvest has been transformed into a modern piece of homeware.

Playing heed to Silvestre Artesanos’ philosophy to rescue the diversity of Colombia’s endangered cultural landscape, it expresses the craft of basket weaving in its own way, utilizing the skills, traditions and techniques of artisan craftsmanship with a modern twist exemplified by the addition of pompoms.
