Following her expedition to Asia, where she investigated jewelry- making and mastered the local traditional handicraft of each country she visited, founder and designer Samia Benbrahim decided she would create an authentic, universal, and timeless jewelry line of her own, paying tribute to the Amazigh culture and its mastery in the fabrication of jewels, and contributing to the development of Moroccan Arts and Crafts.
Yelli which literally means “my daughter” in the Berber dialect, also refers to the inheritance process of the Berber ethnic jewelry that Samia is hoping to achieve. Her line of jewelry re-interprets the Amazigh culture under a new light, one closer to her personal history, in a Neo- Berber way, telling its story through her designs.Samia has been attached to the Moroccan culture from a very young age, and it is through Berber jewelry- making, and preservation of the ancestral legacy inherited from mother to daughter, that she feels reconnected to her roots.
Yelli Jewels are mindfully crafted as part of a Slow-fashion approach, manufacturing in small quantities on a made-per-order basis.
Each piece is handcrafted using traditional centuries-old techniques by trained, passionate Berber goldsmiths from Tiznit, South of Morocco.Yelli Jewels are crafted from silver of quality 925 (92.5% silver), as well as pure silver.
