The Molcajete C Pestle and Mortar Set is a modern reinterpretation of the millenary shape of the traditional Mexican mocajete. Its design features a contemporary shape to blend into new contexts within your tableware.

This set is perfect to grind sea salt, black peppercorns, chilli or any other condiment. The wooden base not only adds to the decorativeness of this set but also protects the table’s surface from scratches. The set is handcarved from a single piece of volcanic stone by the master craftsmen of the Rodríguez family in Jalisco, Mexico.

  • Wash with soap and a brush.
  • Due to its natural finishes, the stone might acquire a darker color when exposed to oils or certain foods.
  • The product must be cured if it will be in contact with food.
  • This to seal the largest pores in the stone.
  • How to cure it: Pour a handful of uncooked rice and grind to a powder using your pestle (tejolote). Repeat the process as many times as needed until the ground rice is white in color and has no grit in it.
