The Torno Vase is a perfectly sized vase, versatile in its subtle dappled coloring and ideal to hold your favorite fresh flowers or dried bouquet. Its homey country farm feel makes it a perfect piece for your kitchen table or bedside dresser to add a combination of contemporary and traditional Mexican elegance.

Made by master artisans from stoneware and terracotta clay at high temperatures and thrown in a handmade wheel with a transparent glaze to finish, it captures the ancient pottery traditions of Jalisco and Guanajuato, Mexico. The exact color of the piece depends on its location during the cooking process and variations in tone should be expected.

  • Al Centro Ceramica

Designer Michele de Alba started her brand Al Centro Ceramica to connect the work of different workshops and offer a greater variety of products to clients looking for artisan ceramics while celebrating and recognizing manual work as an example of kindness and integrity. With time, she developed her own designs working hand in hand with artisans in Jalisco & Guanajuato, who developed a very particular style of ceramic, mixing different pottery traditions from the two Mexican states.

    I love these mugs!!!

Supporting artists and craftsmen is important to me, so I feel really good about my purchase. Holding and drinking from them is really joyful. They are elegantly shaped and magically light-weight with an earthy texture. I don’t know if they can go in a dishwasher, but I like hand-washing them.

I had spent weeks looking for a perfect wedding gift for my colleague but nothing really 'clicked.' Then I found TheNopo, and I had the opposite experience: there were so many beautiful items from which to pick the gift. I ended up choosing a vase from artisan Michele de Alba who is from Mexico and this was also the destination of the wedding. I could not have found a more perfect gift elsewhere. Thank you to TheNopo for this experience!
